Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Rochester Trolley & Tour Company is to provide our guests with a safe, comfortable, informative, and enjoyable tour or outing that introduces them to the many cultural, historical, natural, and scenic wonders of Rochester and the surrounding region.

Company History

Founded in the spring of 2006, the Rochester Trolley & Tour Company provides a variety of public and private sightseeing tours along with trolley and coach charters for any size group featuring personal service, complete tour and trip planning, knowledgeable and friendly guides, and a commitment to excellence every step of the way.

Our founder is a native Minnesotan whose life-long interests in local and regional history, geology, nature, ecology, literature and architecture, and abiding interest in the Rochester and Mayo Clinic story, led to the establishment of a variety of scenic, cultural, and historical sightseeing tours for visitors to Rochester and the region.  Our initial signature  tours – all of which we still conduct today – included an Old Amish Country Tour, Scenic Mississippi River Valley Tour, Twin Cities Tour, and Rochester City Tour.

In 2011, to meet the needs of Rochester’s millions of annual visitors and evolving tourism market, the company expanded by bringing the first-ever motorized tourist trolleys to the city of Rochester, and has since expanded its fleet to five trolleys, a luxury minicoach, and several private tour vehicles.

In thriving partnerships with many organizations, sites and attractions, the company has pioneered and developed many popular tours that are enjoyed by visitors and residents alike, including its Rochester City & Mayo Historical Trolley Tour, Great River Road Wine Trail Trolleys Tours, Haunted Rochester Trolley Tour, and Jolly Trolley Holiday Lights Tours. Since its inception, the company and its guides have now conducted over ten thousand public tours and private events.

Awards & Milestones

In summer 2014, Rochester Trolley & Tour Company was named the Certified Tourism Ambassador ”Business of the Year” by the Rochester Convention & Visitors Bureau and Mayo Clinic.

In July 2014, Rochester Trolley was honored to have two of its trolleys in the Major League Baseball All-Star Game Parade in downtown Minneapolis. Near the head of the parade, the trolleys transported a select group of teachers recognized for excellence in education as winners of a national contest co-sponsored by Major League Baseball and People Magazine. Each teacher represented an American and National League team. Their accomplishments were celebrated as they rode the trolleys with a surprise visit from Dr. Jill Biden, wife of the Vice President and a national leader on education issues.

Rochester & Our Region

Southeastern Minnesota is blessed with picturesque limestone bluffs, secluded river valleys, lush hardwood forests, crystal-clear trout streams and bucolic farmsteads.  Yet for all its natural splendors, the region is also well-known for its unique cultural amenities including antique shops, excellent restaurants, eclectic boutiques, fine art galleries, professional theaters, historic architecture, and still-thriving Main Streets.
